The Glasshouse Mountains, named by
Captain Cook in 1770 are 15 remnants of a volcanic era, breathtaking
volcanic peaks formed 25 million years ago. Spectacular mountains
rising in a dramatic fashion creating this unique landscape. Steeped
in aboriginal mythology, fascinating in its own right, they are
now a part of the Glasshouse Mountains National Park. For the energetic
visitors, there are many walking and climbing trails on most of
the mountains. For the less energetic there are parks and BBQ picnic
areas and beautiful vistas to view and photograph.
